On July 6, 2012, delegation led by Dr. Ali Rashid Tabez, Director General of National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Pakistan, visited the State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research. Mr. Ahsan Feroze from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Pakistan and other three members of NIO were also in the delegation. This is a follow-up after the NIO delegation’s visit in Shanghai in December, 2011 and SKLEC delegation’s visit in Karachi in May, 2012.

In the afternoon of July 6, a welcome meeting was held in the State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research. Prof. Youqun Ren, Vice president of East China Normal University welcomed the guests.  Mr. Zafar Hasan, Counsul General of Pakistan Shanghai also participated the welcome meeting and expressed his support for collaborations between NIO and ECNU.

On July 7, scientists from both sides discussed about the Executive Agreement in detail. It will be signed after confirmation from headquarters and become the corner stone for future joint research in the field of coastal and marine sciences.
