Core Research Area

Estuarine Evolution and Estuarine Sediment Dynamics
We study hydrodynamics of tidal estuaries, sediment transportation, channel evolution and sedimentological processes, material flux, interface processes and estuarine responses to global change. Evolution and interactions of estuarine processes under the natural conditions and human activities are also studied to serve the comprehensive development and management of estuaries.

Coastal Dynamic Geomorphology and Sediment Process
We study characteristics of coastal sediment transportation, sedimentological processes and tidal flat profile modification under the effects of waves and currents. Characteristics of fine silt transportation, mechanism of coasts and tidal flats evolution are also studied to serve the development and application of coastal engineering and coastal resources.

Estuarine and Coastal Ecology and Environment
We study the ecological and biogeochemical processes related to estuarine, coastal and marine dynamics, with emphasis on interactions between land and sea, such as ecological dynamics, chemical material transportations, as well as structures, functions and evolution of estuarine and coastal wetland.
