In December 2014,Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) signed the Memorandum of Understanding with East China Normal University (ECNU).

Theobjective of this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is to facilitate cooperation between NIVA and ECNU for the purpose of promoting scientific collaborations in estuarine, coastal and marine sciences.

The cooperation will cover a broad area of estuaries, coastal and marine research under global change. The areas may include: 1. Land – ocean interface; 2. Climate, biogeochemical and ecosystem drivers; 3. Feedbacks to ocean and global change; 4. Marine management of resources, food security and coast and ocean health; 5. Estuaries and coasts from space.

This MOU is a mutual commitment to forge a collaborative partnership for research and educational exchange.
