Agreement Signed between East China Normal University and Delft University of Technology

Academic and Scientific Cooperation Agreement has been signed between East China Normal University (ECNU) and Delft University of Technology (DUT) in May, 2015.

Scientific cooperation between ECNU and DUT has started since 2004, under the framework of “Programme Strategic Scientific Alliances between China and The Netherlands (PSA)” sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, China, and the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences, the Netherlands. Together with several other organizations such as Tsinghua University and the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ), we have conducted two phases of PSA projects from 2005 to 2013. In 2014, a new international cooperative key project was granted by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, with research teams mainly from ECNU and DUT. Great achievements have been made in scientific research and education for young scientists and PhD students.

On May 31st, 2015, Professor Marcel Stive and Zhengbing Wang visited ECNU, while Prof. Hubert Savenije, who had just obtained the Honorary Professorship from ECNU, was also here to give lectures. All of the three professors are from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Delft University of Technology. A short meeting was held between DUT professors and scientists from the State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research (SKLEC), chaired by President Qun Chen of East China Normal University. President Chen highly appreciated the long time cooperation between DUT and ECNU, and thanked for the contributions made by DUT scientists in the research and education. With the formal Agreement signed between the two universities, he wished that the cooperation will enter a new stage with more faculties and educational programs involved.

At the end of the meeting, President Chen handed the Academic and Scientific Cooperation Agreement to Professor Stive for him to bring it back to the President of Delft University of Technology.
